How to Take Care of your Display Cases

Owning a baseball display case that shows off all your games trophies is an awesome thing in and of itself, but maintaining the display case is an important step that cannot be overlooked. I can’t count the amount of times I have been to an old college teammates of mine, and seen his baseball display case that I had recommended (as I normally do), and seen that the display case was in poor looking condition due to dust and fingerprints that were never cleaned away.

Most baseball display cases will be either a tempered form of glass, or a dense acrylic that is lighter in weight, but more durable in strength. The best way that I have found in cleaning these was by use of either a homemade mix or a store bought version.

Store bought versions are the easiest, quickest, and most desired way to maintain a glass display case of any kind. The most popular store bought cleaner in most area’s of the US is a product known by Windex. Windex can be used to spray the surface of glass or acrylic in order to clean away any smudges with a glassy clean finish. You can pick up glass cleaner for under $5 dollars and it can be found in most grocery stores.

The other popular method is to concoct a home made version that you can make and apply as you wish. These home made blends generally consist of a few chemicals which when combined, activate the same dirt and grime fighting resistance the store bought versions are popular for. Vinegar and Water is most commonly used as a homemade version with lemon added as a way to enhance the smell as Vinegar can be quite strong when inhaled directly.

By using any of these chemicals, you can ensure that your glass looks clean, clear, and shiny anytime you have guests over or anytime you want to admire some of your handy work from years ago. I know that personally keeping my display cases clean is very simple as I maintain a routine of cleaning them once a week and before anyone comes over to my house. I have found that constant upkeep will keep it looking its best all times of the year, and as you may already know, cleaning something that isn’t really that dirty in the first place is much easier than cleaning a nasty smudged up glass piece!
